A Note About the Following Steps

We’re going to go over the main steps involved when a cabinet refacing company works on cabinets. That said, keep in mind that these are generic steps. Every single job is a little bit different and our process is always tailored to your needs. When we meet with you for a consultation, we’ll assess your current cabinets and you needs to find the best plan for the best final product.

The Steps Involved in Getting Cabinets Refaced

In most cases, the process of refacing your cabinets will involve most or all of these steps:

  • Using a screwdriver to remove the hinges from the doors of your cabinets. We’ll gently and carefully set aside the doors, shelves, and other parts.
  • If the surface is laminated, we buff it with a small sander or 100-grit sandpaper. This gets rid of the shine and helps remove grime to make it easier to refinish the exterior.
  • We measure each of the various sections of your cabinet that you want veneered. We use those measurements on pieces of veneer.
  • Next up, we cut the pieces for your cabinets. This is done right in our La Hambra factory.
  • Once the pieces are made, we come back and place the first one in the correct spot. We then attach the cabinet faces to the existing cabinet. The method and materials with which we adhere the cabinet veneers will vary based on the material you’ve selected.
  • If there are any issues, we touch them up.
  • We’ll do this for every section of your kitchen.
  • Once all the fronts are on, we install the hinges and hardware back where they were. We can use the existing hardware but many homeowners prefer to add new hardware. It’s not terribly expensive and it can have a big impact on how the cabinets look.

Once again, this isn’t the entire process for every project we do. We first learn what you’re looking for and then we come up with a plan. Before we move forward, we’ll go over the details of the plan to ensure you’re always prepared for whatever’s coming next.
